Karen Bierman exemplifies Service Excellence. She maintains an exceptionally high level of technical ability within her role and builds on that each and every day with her attitude and ability to be accessible, effective and professional in every instance.

Karen manages the UHS Stock Plan and 401(k) under a strict compliance and deadline driven environment. She works on complicated mergers and internal and external audits that demand accuracy and timeliness. But the extraordinary measures that she takes every day in working with people exemplify Karen’s commitment to service excellence.

Karen works directly with vendors, auditors, consultants on a day in and day out basis. She receives inquiries and phone calls from executives, corporate and field employees every day and regardless of whom she is speaking with, she is pleasant, helpful, and always makes the individual feel that their issue is of the utmost importance to her and that she will get things resolved. She can be wrestling with getting a wire out the door, but keeps the level of stress invisible to her “client” through her friendly and approachable demeanor.

Staffing levels and workflow challenges do not impact Karen’s commitment to these standards. She has a keen ability to prioritize and yet still maintain the highest regard for employees’ questions and concerns.

I have worked with Karen since 2006 and have never seen her deviate from these commitments. She is an asset to the UHS HR Department and the greater UHS organization.
